Piyapong Muenprasertdee or ‘Py’ is a Thai music industry academic, and creative innovations educator. With a B.Eng. and M.S. in Industrial Engineering and an MBA focused on entrepreneurship, Py moves fluidly between the worlds of academia, policy, startups, and music.
In 2014, he co-founded Fungjai, an influential Thai music platform and community that became a launching pad for multiple regional music initiatives. These include Maho Rasop Festival – Bangkok’s first international independent music festival; Bangkok Music City (BMC) – Thailand’s first international music conference and showcase festival; and AXEAN Festival (formerly known as ASEAN Music Showcase Festival) – Southeast Asia’s first intraregional collaborative music showcase festival. Through these ventures, Py has helped define a new era of music export and creative collaboration in the region.
Py is passionate about networking and connecting people, and possesses a strong commitment to promoting the sustainable development of the music industry. This passion stems from his previous experience as a consultant in the sustainability and climate change sector.
